When it comes to Nebraska football recruiting, it’s quite clear that Matt Rhule has hit the ground running. That was shown on Monday thanks to the three commits that he and his staff were able to haul in. However pledges to play for the Cornhuskers weren’t the the only positives that came on Monday.

Nebraska football faithful also got word that one of the best quarterback recruits in the 2025 class is serious enough about checking out the Cornhuskers that he’ll be in Lincoln later this week. Stone Saunders is a highly sought after quarterback from Matt Rhule’s old stomping grounds and it appears the two have hit it off enough that Saunders will pay a visit.

Saunders took to Twitter to announce that he’ll be coming to town on Wednesday. That would seem to indicate that despite the fact that quarterback is quite sought after, the Huskers are very much in the mix.

Nebraska Football Gets Visit From Stone Saunders

While the Huskers managed to secure a visit from the quarterback, it’s still going to have its work cut out in order to get him to commit. And that’s the case not just because he has a few years before he has to sign any letter of intent.

According to On3, Texas A&M is the team to beat when it comes to his recruitment. Interestingly enough, the Huskers are also going to have to try and fight off Rutgers, who is currently given the second best chance of landing Stone Saunders.

The quarterback currently boasts a total of 18 offers with schools like the Aggies, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan and Nebraska football all offering him. Interestingly, despite being from Pennsylvania, Penn State has not come calling as yet.

Should the Nittany Lions make an official offer at some point, it will be interesting to see if things get shaken up. For now, it appears that Nebraska football recruiting is making some inroads for Stone Saunders and his services when he’s ready to play college ball.
