Nebraska Cornhuskers News: The yips of Brett Maher, Cam Taylor-Britt’s big day, more
The Nebraska Cornhuskers were well represented in the NFL on Sunday. Standing out among the group were two players that had very different games. The first was Cam Taylor-Britt, who had himself a whale of a game for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Britt has had a pretty good rookie season overall but his best game of his first campaign might have been Sunday in Buffalo. Taylor-Britt had six tackles as well as two pass breakups. He also sealed the Bengals win with an interception of Josh Allen.
It happened to be the defensive back’s first career NFL interception. It wasn’t cheapy either. He had to change lanes and pick the throw; otherwise intended for a pretty open receiver out of the air.
Cam Taylor-Britt’s plays definitely played a part in the Bengals getting to the AFC Championship for the second straight season.

While Taylor-Britt had himself a great game, Dallas Cowboys kicker Brett Maher started out Sunday night, continuing a playoff nightmare that has been painful to watch. Maher missed his first four extra points in the Cowboys’ big win last week. There was even talk he might be cut. But he kept his job, kicked against the San Francisco 49ers, and … had his first extra point blocked. Not only that, but it was a kick that was very clearly going to shank left and be missed if it wasn’t blocked. He did however regroup and go 2-for-2 on field goals in the Cowboys’ loss. Inlcuding a 43-yarder. What will happen to Maher during the offseason is anyone’s guess.
One day after the men’s basketball team played a pretty bad game against Penn State, Amy Williams’s group had a tough one of their own against Maryland. The biggest issue for the Huskers was shooting from beyond the arc, where they went just 5-for-27. They were also bad at the free throw line, going 11-for-20. They lost the game 69-54. They beat Maryland earlier this season, 90-67.

Former Florida commit Jaden Rashada is the highest-rated uncommitted player in the 2023 class, but he’s narrowing down where he might go. It appears that Arizona State and TCU are the biggest candidates. The Nebraska Cornhuskers don’t appear to be interested or in the mix.
Ed Reed was going to take over the Bethune Cookman football program. Then the school wouldn’t ratify his contract. Now it appears he’s without a job again. The whole thing is certainly weird and not something you see all that often. Even in the twisty turny world of college football.
