Nebraska football recruiting has been having some pretty big success of late. That includes the recent commitment of a wide receiver in Billy Kemp, that could end up being one of the biggest gets of the last year. However, on Monday night, Cornhuskers fans were treated to a show of just what they are up against when it comes to recruiting the top targets in the country.

Ever since Dylan Raiola announced he was no longer committed to Ohio State, Nebraska football recruiting followers have been salivating at the apparent opportunity. Raiola is the best quarterback, if not the best overall player in the 2024 class.

He’s also got family ties to Nebraska thanks to his father having played here and his uncle now the offensive line coach. It was thought that the hire of Donovan Raiola last year was the silver bullet in landing the talented quarterback. It didn’t work out that way but now the Huskers have another shot.

But if Nebraska football recruiting is going to be successful in reeling in Raiola, they’re going to need to fight off the biggest of the big boys. Georgia among them.

A photo just ahead of the Bulldogs’ blowout win over TCU started circulating social media on Monday that should give Husker fans pause. Dylan Raiola was at the National Championship Game, taking in the sights with little brother Dalton (also a Nebraska football recruiting target) and sister Taylor.

Dylan was likely checking out the game for a couple of different reasons. UGA head coach Kirby Smart would absolutely love for the signal caller to be leading his team starting in 2024. However, Taylor plays for the TCU volleyball team so there was likely a bit of a split loyalty going on.

What Dylan Raiola saw on Monday night was absolutely the best college football team in the country. He had to be thinking about what it would be like if he could do the same thing that Stetson Bennett just pulled off.

Signing day for the star quarterback is still months away. Almost a year in fact. But that picture rolling around the web last night is an uncomfortable reminder for Nebraska football recruiting enthusiasts that it’s not going to be all that easy to land this kind of talent, family ties or not.
