Nebraska football recruiting has already had a very nice week. Both Cameron Lenhardt and Ethan Nation announced they were going to be Huskers. In fact, they already are Huskers. But is it possible that the week or at least the month could get even better?

Nebraska football recruiting has been on a bit of a hot streak. Matt Rhule and company have had a good run when it comes to getting talented high schoolers. They’ve also landed some talented transfers. There’s now an Ohio State player who is in the transfer portal that could fall to the Huskers if Rhule and company play it just right.

Javonte Jean-Baptiste entered the portal on Monday. It wouldn’t be a complete shock if he’d been getting phone calls from the Cornhuskers coaching staff by Tuesday morning. And it seems quite likely that he was glad to see those numbers to pop up on his caller ID.

Nebraska football recruiting has a bit of a leg up when it comes to possibly getting Jean-Baptiste. That’s because there was a time when he was absolutely headed to Lincoln. It turns out the linebacker is possibly the biggest “one that got away” of the Scott Frost era.

Possible Nebraska Football recruiting target already loves the Huskers

In October of 2019, there was one morning when Jean-Baptiste called the Nebraska football coaches at the time and told them he was going to be a Husker. Two hours later he switched to Ohio State. Now it appears he’s had his fill of the Buckeyes and is looking for greener pastures. Could he be wondering what life might have been like if he’d come to Lincoln after all?

Nebraska football recruiting  should at the very least, give Javontae Jean-Baptiste a whirl. The now-former Buckeye is the kind of player that would give the Huskers’ roster a boost this winter. He’s someone who could find a  new life in Lincoln.
