Nebraska football recruiting efforts in the Peach State could be paying off as the Huskers are among the final favorites for a 4-star linebacker.
Andrew Hines III is one of the best linebackers in the 2024 class. Judging by some of the schools that are coming after him, he might be among the smartest as well.
The 4-star defender from Atlanta’s Woodward Academy announced just before the new year what schools he is considering at this point. Nebraska football recruiting efforts where Matt Rhule and company picked up where their predecessors left off has the Huskers in HInes’ Top 12 schools.
Hines is definitely an interesting prospect. That is best illustrated by the fact that Wake Forest, Duke and … Harvard are among his favorites. The Crimson, especially still being in the running shows that the linebacker is legitimately thinking about putting academics ahead of athletics. Or maybe he just knows he’s good enough that even if he goes to the Ivy League, he still has a path to the NFL.

Of course, there are also plenty of heavy hitters that specialize in football on the 4-star prospect’s list. Nebraska football recruiting has managed to get a foot in the door alongside Tennessee, Ole Miss, Cal, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Illinois, Missouri and West Virginia.
Just in case you think Harvard is a real outlier, Andrew Hines III also has boasts offers from Vanderbilt and Princeton. That should be attractive to anyone who is hoping for a talented player who can also think on his feet. It’s rare that someone getting Ivy offers and then offers from the most prestigious academic schools in FBS are also considered among the best 250 players in the country.
The question now is just what does Nebraska football recruiting have to do in order to land the 2024 prospect? The good news is that for whatever reason, schools like Georgia, Florida and Alabama appear to be sitting this one out. Knowing that, it appears that Duke or Tennessee are the teams to beat.
