When it comes to the approach by Nebraska football recruiting, it appears that Matt Rhule and company are shooting the moon this week. Now that the 2023 is basically in the bank, the new Huskers staff is working hard to get some feelers out there to some of the best players in the 2024 class. That includes what is considered the absolute best player in the state of Texas in Micah Hudson.

The early approach from this particular staff is one that is certainly a double edged sword. It’s also a bit of a reversal of what Scott Frost and company were doing, especially in the last few years. It appears that Rhule is all about casting a wide net and getting offers out there to the best players in the country. Whether or not that kind of approach pays off is still anyone’s guess at this point.

It can’t hurt to get the Nebraska football recruiting foot in the door when it comes to Micah Hudson. The 5-star wide receiver is considered the top player in the state of Texas for the 2024 class according to On3. 247Sports has him exactly one slot lower, being the number two player in the Lone State State for his class.

On3 consensus ratings have him as not only the best player in the class but also one of the Top 5 players in the entire country. In short, if Nebraska football recruiting efforts could pull Hudson in, it would be an incredibly coup.

It should surprise absolutely no one that if the Huskers are going to have a shot at the receiver, they’re going to need to fight off some heavy hitters. Texas A&M and Alabama are in on him, as well as basically every other team in his home state.

The offer to Hudson doubles down on an approach that Rhule has taken when it comes to Texas players. The former Baylor coach is well known to be high regarded in Texas. It appears he’s going to test just how well regarded he is.

When it comes to Nebraska football recruiting, Micah Hudson is certainly going to be a player to watch just as a gauge into how well Rhule’s inroads are working, even if they don’t land him.
