The Nebraska Cornhuskers had a very good early signing day and ended up vaulting into the Top 30 and ear the Top 25 after looking dead in the water in the 40s for most of the fall. That doesn’t mean that everything went exactly right. That was underlined again on Christmas Eve when former Husker commit Omarion Miller announced his pledge to the Colorado Buffaloes.

Miller had committed to the Huskers when Scott Frost was still the head coach. He stuck around when Mickey Joseph took over the job but on December 2, he announced he was reopening his recruitment.

It’s thought that Matt Rhule went after him and tried to bring him back into the fold. However, he wasn’t successful. There wasn’t any word on just where Miller would end up. However, it appears he signed with the Buffaloes.

This signing boosts a recruiting rivalry that continues to brew between Matt Rhule and Deion Sanders. Rhule scored the first get when he managed to lure Malachi Coleman back who had taken a visit to Colorado the weekend before signing day. Sanders just parried with Miller.

Other Nebraska Cornhuskers News

  • It should come as no actual surprise that the Nebraska Cornhuskers are going to be bringing back the Blackshirts under new DC Tony White. Just how they’re going to come back is still an open question though. White said that he’s going to do some research and figure out the best way to bring the jerseys back.
  • Former Husker Rex Burkhead isn’t getting a ton of touches these days, but he did manage to help the Houston Texans win their second game of the season on Saturday. He recovered a Davis Mills fumble in the end zone for the score. That TD ended being quite important as Houston won 19-14.

College Sports News

  • The transfer portal is still going strong. Former Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei has finally found his new home. He announced on Saturday that he’s heading to Oregon State.
  • Another former ACC quarterback in Kedon Slovis has found his new home as well. He’s leaving Pitt to go play for BYU. The Cougars just lost their former starting quarterback to the NFL draft.

Merry Christmas!

I hope every Nebraska Cornhuskers fan who celebrates has a wonderful Christmas and some nice time off.
