Nebraska football has been on one heck of a run recruiting wise, and the school is getting red hot at just the right time. The Huskers have been reeling in commitments at a pace that the program hasn’t seen in quite some time. Of course, the real fun is going to take place on Wednesday.

That’s when the three-day early signing period opens and all the schools that have verbal commitments can start turning them into Letters of Intent. In other words, the players are officially members of the program they sign with.

While the Nebraska football team currently has 19 verbal commitments, several targets out there haven’t yet pulled the trigger. Some of those targets could even pull the trigger later today. Though it seems likely anyone who hasn’t committed yet will be committing on Early Signing Day.

For the Huskers, that means a class that is currently ranked 40th in the country and 7th in the Big Ten, according to On3 could get quite a bit bigger and quite a bit stronger on Wednesday. There are some players that make more sense to keep an eye on for Nebraska football fans than others.

Malachi Coleman Likely Comes Down To Nebraska Football vs Prime Time

One of the biggest Nebraska football targets in the 2023 class is a prospect that was actually a Husker commit until Mickey Joseph was dismissed from the program. While Coleman decommited, he’s been open about keeping the Cornhuskers in mind. But a recent trip to Boulder shows that Colorado and Deion Sanders could be real players for his services. As someone who wants to hope for the best, I’d love to say that the Lincoln East prospect will likely sign with the Huskers, but I actually think he might be the most obvious choice to head elsewhere among the big targets still on the board for Nebraska.

Cameron Lenhardt Could Be Ready To Get Back On Board

Like Coleman, Cameron Lenhardt was a Nebraska football commit who opened up his recruitment during the uncertainty of who would be the next coach. However, also like Coleman he’s left the door open to the Huskers. The 4-star edge rusher has made no qualms about the fact that he still really like Nebraska and it certainly wouldn’t be a shock to see him sign with Matt Rhule and his staff.

Kyron Jones Could Be Massive Surprise

If there is one position the 2023 Nebraska football recruiting class is far too light on, it’s running back. Currently, the class only has Kwinten Ives at that position and it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if the Huskers tried their best to get another one. North Carolina State decommit Kyron Jones is a brand new free agent but that may not last long. Jones is considered to be a Georgia lean by most, but the 4-star back could shock the recruiting world and sign with the Cornhuskers on Wednesday.

Ben Ngoyi Could Be Nebraska Football Flip

Most of the players that Husker fans are going to want to keep an eye on for Wednesday are still technically “free agents” but there is one player that is committed to Iowa State who could flip. Ngoyi is a Lincoln High athlete that’s been committed to the Cyclones for a while now, but Matt Rhule and his staff have made serious inroads and it’s now going to be worth seeing if he sticks with his current choice of switches to Nebraska football.
