While Matt Rhule is installing a new era of Nebraska football, some of the previous regime’s most memorable names are starting to exit. Among them is wide receiver Omar Manning.
While his career in Lincoln appears over, it’s clear that Omar Manning bleeds Husker red and embodies what “once a Husker always a Husker” is all about. Manning showed it yet again when he sent out a message to the schools he’d spent time at during his college football career.
He especially gave a big shout-out to the Cornhuskers and the Nebraska football team. His tweet showed that while his career might not have been what he had hoped it would be in Lincoln, he appreciated his time here.
“As my college football journey comes to an end, I want to thank The University of Nebraska, & Kilgore College for a great & unforgettable experience,” the Nebraska football star wrote. “I’m so thankful for my brothers & the opportunity. I’ll cherish these memories for a lifetime! Love 5! God is great!”
In addition to what he wrote, the Husker receiver included several photos of his time in Lincoln as well as a video showing some highlights from his Husker career.
Manning showed his grace despite his career with the Nebraska football team having some severe ups and downs. At times it looked like he was about to take off but then unfortunately often faded into the background for one reason or another out of his control.
His best season as a Husker ended up being the final full season of the Scott Frost era. In 2021 he caught 26 passes for 380 yards and two touchdowns. It was thought that performance would be a springboard for an explosive 2022 season.
However, the Nebraska football star ended this tumultuous campaign with just four receptions for 28 yards. While that might have been frustrating for anyone, Omar Manning showed he’s risen above it and thanked those who helped him along the way.
