Nebraska football recruiting is ramping up, with just over a month to go until signing day. Things are especially heating up for Mickey Joseph and company, who have issued a ton of new offers that all appear geared toward improving the team right away.

Those efforts include a brand new offer to a JUCO defensive lineman. Derick Hunter of Hinds C.C. announced on Twitter, Tuesday night that the Nebraska football recruiting efforts had trained their sights on him.

Hunter is considered a 4-star prospect by On3 and could be the kind of big bodied defensive lineman that would give an immediate boost to the Cornhuskers front four next season. Of course, in order for interim head coach Mickey Joseph to land him, he’ll need to pull the Junior College prospect away from the likes of Texas A&M.

While the Aggies have struggled mightily this season, they’re still a recruiting hotbed. Like the Cornhuskers, they are also trying to rebound quickly from what’s been a nightmare 2022 campaign.

Nebraska Football Recruiting Going After a Quarterback Hunter

There’s very little doubt that the Huskers are looking for impact players, especially on the defensive side of the ball for the next class. Hunter isn’t the first JUCO defensive lineman that the coaching staff has shown an interest in.

This particular recruit is going to be a bit harder to get considering that A&M isn’t even the only SEC school that’s come calling. However, there’s very little doubt that what the Husker coaching staff has managed to do, especially with a head coach who may not be here come December has been impressive.

The Nebraska football recruiting efforts have managed to land the top player in the state, as well as a much-ballyhooed bowling ball of a running back in Arnold Barnes. If the team can add a few more impact commits in the coming weeks, it could be quite the coup.
