The Nebraska football season seems to have taken a bit of a turn after the loss to Illinois. Going into that game, there was still some hope that interim head coach Mickey Joseph had found something that would make the team a little better. That was especially thanks to the performance against Purdue. However, things went about as poorly as possible against the Illini.

That included the loss of quarterback Casey Thompson. He left late in the first half and didn’t return in the second. There’s also some doubt that he’s going to be able to play against Minnesota on Saturday morning.

That’s only part of what is going to make the matchup against Minnesota that much harder. The other is that the Golden Gophers are very good at things that Nebraska has had problems dealing with.

Minny got off to a very good start, then struggled mightily for three straight games. However, it appears that PJ Fleck righted the ship last Saturday against Rutgers. The Gophers won 31-0, and Mohamed Ibrahim went for 159 yards and three TDs. He’s now got 955 yards and 13 touchdowns.

If the Nebraska football team found Chase Brown a handful, it’s going to have real problems with Minnesota’s attack.

Nebraska football vs. Minnesota Odds Week 10

Between the Gophers’ power rushing attack and Casey Thompson’s injuries, the odds are definitely not in Nebraska’s favor on Saturday. Despite being the home team, the Cornhuskers are +15.5 on FanDuel and +15 on WynnBet. It’s been a very long time since they were that big a dogs for a home game.

Considering FanDuel has set the total at 46.5 and WynnBet has it at 47, the sites are pretty convinced that it will be a low-scoring affair.

Nebraska football vs. Minnesota Prediction Week 10

It’s hard to picture a scenario where the Huskers are able to win without Casey Thompson at quarterback. Neither Chubba Purdy nor Logan Smothers looked like they were ready to put the team on their back and carry it to victory.

It seems likely that the Nebraska football team will lose ATS quite easily though Minnesota could wear the defense down to the point where the total does go over.
