The Nebraska football recruiting effort this weekend was second to none as Omaha-born Illinois prospect Bodey McCaslin was one of several offers going out. It should come as no surprise what position McCaslin plays. He’s yet another in what is becoming a growing line of offensive linemen that have gotten offers from Mickey Joseph and company.

McCaslin announced that he took a trip down the road from where he was born this weekend, got to take in the sights, got to meet a Nebraska football legend and ended up leaving with an offer to play for the Huskers.

While the 6-foot-5, 235-pound offensive lineman was born in Omaha, he moved out of the state when he was a young kid. Since leaving, he’s managed to forge a football career in Illinois that has seen him become the 12th-best player in the state for the 2024 class. He’s also seeing a growing number of Power 5 programs come calling.

Nebraska football recruiting efforts are just the latest group of coaches to take notice. McCaslin also has offers from Minnesota, Kansas, Kansas State, Ball State, Central Michigan, and Kent State.

The youngster talked to On3 about his visit to Lincoln and shared that as part of him taking in the sights he actually weighed in and went through a series of tests from the Huskers’ conditioning coach.

"“We got to the stadium about 11:00. The nutrition coach had us do like a ton of different body fat percentage tests when we got there. I won’t bore you and go into all of that detail.”"

During his visit, he talked about other things that stood out, but it’s clear that one of the biggest moments of his trip was when he got to meet Nebraska legend Tom Osborne.

While that might have been a highlight, the official offer that came from Mickey Joseph had to be a very close second. Just how well Nebraska football recruiting efforts went with McCaslin is anyone’s guess, but he appeared to like the visit.
