Nebraska football fans have been clamoring for Urban Meyer almost since the minute that Scott Frost was fired. The question, for a while now, has been whether or not the former Ohio State head coach has been clamoring for Nebraska. His latest comments on his latest podcast seem to indicate that he might not be getting back into coaching at all.

In the episode of Urban’s Take with Tim May, Meyer claimed that his interest level in returning to coaching, whether that be with Nebraska football, or someone else, is not all that high.

"“I’m really happy with Fox and really happy with the lifestyle right now. Flying in today to see grandkids. I’m happy with what I am doing.”"

Of course, it’s absolutely possible that someone who is looking for a new head coaching job is going to say that right up until the time when he takes a new job. But this isn’t the first time the running theme has been that the former Florida Gators’ head coach is ready to be done with coaching.

In fact, it was just a few days ago that reports started to circulate that the former Jacksonville Jaguars coach was planning on staying out of the coaching game. That report too, said that he was happy doing his broadcasting work.

It’s worth pointing out that it’s been since 2018 that he’s actually been a head coach at any school. He left Ohio State that year and it really did appear that he might be done with coaching for good. Then he took the Jags job.

Then that job was a colossal failure. He was fired before the end of his first year. He also did things like stay behind and not traveling with the team in order to “spend time with his family.”

If Meyer is really having second thoughts about coaching again, Nebraska football fans should stay far away.
