Nebraska Football: Big Ten Power Rankings shakeout after Week 3
When it comes to the Nebraska football team, as well as the rest of the Big Ten, things are starting to really shake out. There are a couple of teams that are right at the top of the rankings. There are a couple of teams that are right there in the middle hoping to make some noise.
And then there are some teams, much like Nebraska football, that are struggling mightily to get out of the starting gates in 2022. The Big Ten Power Rankings after Week 3 are starting to show just who might be real competitors for the Big Ten title and who are just pretenders to the throne these days.
The Ohio State Buckeyes started the 2022 season by opening with a double digit win over what was a Top 10 team. Then they just got better and better. They followed what was a surprisingly defensively dominant performance against Notre Dame with a 33-point win over Arkansas State and then a 56 point victory over Toledo.
Yes, the Buckeyes have played some rather weak non-conference opponents after Notre Dame, but no one expected the Irish to be as bad as they’ve looked so far this season. OSU has won every game they were supposed to win. Certainly not something the Nebraska football team can claim.
It’s a safe bet that if Ohio State wasn’t in the Big Ten, then Michigan would be right at the top of the list. While the Wolverines have actually been a bit more dominant but their schedule has also been a bit weaker than OSU.
Jim Harbaugh’s boys have outscored their opponents 166-17 so far this year. That’s absolutely insane. However, they’ve done that against some of the worst teams in college football this year. Still, Michigan looks like a team that is going to be scary this year. That the Nebraska football team has to play them later in the year has to be making Husker fans a little sick to their stomachs.
