The Nebraska basketball team has had a bit of an up-and-down month of August, especially when it comes to recruiting. On the one hand, the Huskers scored the commitment of Eli Rice. On the other hand, they either lost out or moved away from former Florida Gators star Keyontae Johnson.
As is the requirement when it comes to big-time college sports, the Cornhuskers have moved on to their next target. That particular target is Brady Dunlap, a 6-7 power forward with some tools that aren’t always present when talking about players at his position.
Dunlap is considered a pure shooter, which certainly fits in well with what Fred Hoiberg is trying to do with his Nebraska basketball program. Of course, in order to lure Dunlap to the program, Hoiberg is going to have to overcome some rather stiff competition.
The Studio City prospect has offers from all over the country including true college basketball royalty like Arizona and Kansas. Arkansas and USC are in the mix as well. Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota are all interested in Dunlap as well.

At the moment, it’s hard to tell where exactly Nebraska basketball might fall as far as having a real shot to land the 3-star prospect. However, the fact that the Huskers want to go fast and want shooters at every position certainly fits the profile of a guy that is getting recruited more for his ability on offense than defense. Dunlap seems to understand why these schools are after him.
He talked to 247Sports about the reality of his situation.
"“Right now, I’m being recruited to shoot the ball. I have a good size to be that type of shooter. I’m very confident in my shot. I know that’s my ticket. In high school, I’m trying to develop more of a bounce game to be more of a playmaker. I feel I play the game the right way. I’m confident shooting off the dribble, confident in my pull-up game. I think I’m underrated as an athlete.”"
As of now, there doesn’t appear to be a timeframe for when Dunlap is going to announce his decision. While Nebraska basketball is a bit late arriving, Hoiberg and company appear to be legitimately in the mix.
