The Nebraska basketball program is on a bit of a roll this week. On Wednesday, they got a commitment from 2023 recruit Eli Rice. On Thursday, one of the best shooting guards in that same class named Fred Hoiberg’s program as one of the final five he was considering committing to.

Parker Friedrichsen is a 247Sports Top 150 player out of Bixby, Oklahoma. He is, in fact, the number two player in the entire state for his class.

The 4-star prospect is exactly the kind of talent that the Huskers definitely need to keep adding to their roster. It appears they have a legit shot of doing that. All they’ll have to do is keep Davidson,, Notre Dame, Northwestern, and Rice at bay.

While that might easier said than done, it has to be seen as a good sign that if Friedrichsen decides he wants to play in a major conference, Notre Dame and Northwestern are the only legit competition in that area for the Nebraska basketball team.

According to 247Sports‘ Brandon Jenkins, not only did the talented shooting guard narrow down his list, but he’s also got official visits to all five schools.

Notre Dame is first up with a trip planned on August 26, then its onto Davidson on August 30 and Rice on September 2. The Huskers will get a visit on September 9 and then Northwestern is the last of the five schools to hose Friedrichsen on September 16.

Those looking for the inside track on where the shooting guard might be leaning might want to look at comments he’s made about the coaches who have been recruiting him during this cycle.

While saying that the stature of a program isn’t the deciding factor for him, he spoke glowingly about Notre Dame’s Mike Brey and Rice’s Scott Pera to the website.

It doesn’t appear that Nebraska basketball fans will have to wait too long for Parker Friedrichsen to make his call once he wraps up all his visits. He’s on record as saying he wants to be ready to sign by November.
