Nebraska Basketball: Transfer portal continues to treat program well
The transfer portal is something that Nebraska basketball has used quite frequently over the past couple of seasons. Saturday, they went to the proverbial well once again. They landed former 2020 four-star small forward Keon Edwards from the transfer portal.
Measuring in at six-foot-seven, he was a monster of a player at Hillcrest Prep. He averaged 14.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.4 steals, and 1.9 blocks per game in 18 contests. He did a little bit of everything for Hillcrest.

This is another major get for Nebraska basketball, as it gives them size and a player who can make an impact immediately. Edwards was a player who was highly thought of during his recruiting process, and now he comes to Nebraska.
Not only that, Nebraska has Lat Mayen and Derrick Walker at the forward position. They are upperclassman, as both are juniors. Edwards will be able to have time to grow once those two leave the program. This is not only a good move for talent right now on the roster, but this is a good move for the program for life after those two.
I love this move for the program. They are continuing to get impact players and players who can provide a spark. Edwards has shown he can do that. Nebraska basketball already has a solid base of players for their program. Now, they are continuing to add to it. You heard me talk about C.J. Wilcher last month, and Edwards is another huge get for this program.
Especially when you consider the record that Nebraska basketball put together last season, this is a testament to the fact that these players believe in what the program is trying to do. They see the same vision that the coaching staff does. This program has a chance to be really good next season with all the new talent coming in, as well as the returning players they have.
I will be interested to see how Edwards makes an impact for this program. I think it will be a positive one, and I think he will be able to really put up numbers like he did at Hillcrest. He is a player that is able to make things happen when he is on the floor, and he is a player who is multi-faceted. It is for those reasons that I think he will be able to fit in nicely with the program.
This is a great get for Nebraska basketball, as they continue to add impact players to the roster.
