Clark is a name to watch  ffor Nebraska football this spring,

As Nebraska football begin spring practices next week, there are a lot of positions with question marks. One of those positions is the cornerback position. Heading into the practices, one guy I am looking at terms of how he practices is Braxton Clark.

Let’s face it, he got robbed of a season in 2020. He suffered a season-ending injury that was officially announced in October. It was a devastating injury that happened during practice of all places. Now, he looks to make a comeback and seems to be ready to go.

247Sports did a breakdown of the cornerback position on Sunday. In it, they talked a little bit about Clark. I always figured that Clark was going to be in the mix heading into the 2021 season. He is a guy that we haven’t really gotten to see over extended lengths of time. Now, he will use this spring to not only try to get back to his normal level, but to show that he can play at that high level.

As many of you may recall, 2019 was a year where we really started to see what he could bring to the table. He had 11 tackles, and he was able to start against Purdue. That’s one of the many reasons why the injury last year was such a difficult pill to swallow. He had spent the last couple of seasons building positive momentum, and now he suffered a setback.

However, as Brian Christopherson notes, Clark could be a guy that bounces back next season. I would tend to agree, especially considering that he probably wants to play pretty badly. This is a time where he can refine his skills and to be able to work his way back.

"Providing updates a couple weeks ago on the rehabs of Clark and Myles Farmer, defensive backs coach Travis Fisher was encouraged: “They’re pushing, man. They’re on schedule, both of those guys are running around. Happy to see Myles running around, and backpedaling and breaking. And happy to see Braxton lifting weights, and he’s running around and breaking too at practice. I think both of those guys on schedule. Just myself, wanting to be smart in how much of a load I throw on them. It’s so early (in the offseason).”"

This is certainly great news to hear. The fact that he is on schedule is a bonus. Often times, rehabs and recoveries suffer setbacks. It sounds like both Clark and Myles Farmer are on schedule. For Clark, I would certainly consider this a redemption tour, not because he played badly, but because he wants to prove himself.

I’m excited to watch several Nebraska football players this spring. Clark will undoubtedly be one of them.
