This would be a very good thing for Nebraska football.
Nebraska football has had success in the state of Georgia lately in terms of recruiting. It appears that they are going after another prospect in the state as well. 2022 cornerback Ryland Gandy is high on Nebraska according to a report from Steve Wilfong ($) of 247Sports,
Gandy is the 73rd overall cornerback in the 2022 class, and the 70th overall player in his class from the state of Georgia per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

What could he bring to the Nebraska football program? Measuring in at 6 feet, 170 pounds, he is on the smaller side for a corner. However, size is not really a problem for him in terms of how he plays. He is very good in terms of man coverage, and is able to stay with his taller matchups with ease. That quality would be very helpful in the Big Ten conference, where receivers and offenses are explosive every single Saturday.
Normally, I would say that a corner of his size would be better suited in the slot. However, if he were to come to Nebraska, I could see him playing on the outside. His speed is a thing that makes this possible, and his instincts allow him to be able to keep up with the play. He is a player that I could see succeeding in the Nebraska football defense, because he has that athleticism the program looks for in their corners.
Currently, Nebraska football has one commitment in their 2022 class. Ernest Hausmann holds that distinction. They certainly have room to grow and build.
Perhaps even more notable about the Nebraska-Gandy connection is that he is from Buford, Georgia. Nebraska has already landed two commitments from the area in Gabe Ervin and Malik Williams. If they could land Gandy, that would be another notch in their belt for that area of the state. It would be extremely helpful to build a pipeline there as it would give them somewhere in the southern part of the country that they knew they could land a couple players.
It will be interesting to see if Gandy chooses Nebraska. It is known that he thinks of the program highly, and that could benefit them in many ways. Perhaps more so than just landing Gandy, I’ll be interested to see if they continue going back to the emerging well that is Buford.
