Wilson could be a logical option for Nebraska football.

It seems like this topic comes up quite a bit for Nebraska football. Will they or won’t they and a transfer quarterback? To be fair, the quarterback room is pretty full right now. However, it has a lot of unproven talent.

One name that could be an option for Nebraska in terms of transfers is former Kentucky quarterback Terry Wilson.

Reading a piece from Sean Callahan earlier this month, this was a name that he brought up as well. Truthfully, it makes sense, given that Wilson has a little bit of a history with Scott Frost. To make this an even more appealing situation, he has a sixth year of eligibility that he can use in the 2021 season.

In three years of college football for Kentucky, Wilson threw for 3,436 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. His best season came in 2018. That year, he threw for 1,889 yards, 11 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

He also proved to be very effective when running the football. He ran the football 256 times for 1,015 yards and 10 touchdowns. His best season running the football game in 2018, when he ran for 547 yards and four touchdowns. Averaging 4.1 yards per carry, a 42-yard rush was his longest of the season. It is also worth noting that he had a 51-yard rush 2020. He can be effective when running the ball.

As I watch his highlights, he seems to me like a logical choice for the Nebraska football program. He can run, and he can pass. He seems to have a decent arm, and he is no doubt a dual-threat quarterback. In that respect, he would be consistent with what Nebraska football is looking for our of their quarterbacks.

Callahan seems to think that Wilson is a logical choice, and I agree with him. He does make the most sense to me.

The logical choice remains Kentucky transfer quarterback Terry Wilson, who entered the portal this off-season, and was once a Scott Frost signed recruit at Oregon. Wilson was a three-year starter for Kentucky that still has a sixth-year of eligibility he can use in 2021.

Will Frost look to add a one-year transfer like Wilson to bolster depth in his quarterback room? Today, I think the odds are fairly good the Big Red will add a quarterback, but they appear to be in no rush to do so until after the spring.

I think that they will add a transfer quarterback, and Wilson could definitely be an option. He is certainly not a big-time college football name, but he does have the type of play style that could make him appealing to the Huskers.
