Nebraska Basketball: Trevor Lakes return a solid boost for program
Nebraska basketball gets a boost to end the week.
As the Nebraska basketball season gets underway in earnest, there is some news to report. Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Trevor Lakes will qualify for a free year of eligibility that was granted by the NCAA for 2020-21 seniors. This is certainly big news for the program.
Yes, Lakes did not exactly play like an All-American last year. However, he did not get much playing time. However, he did see a little bit more playing time towards the end of the season. in total, he averaged 3.2 points per game on the season. His coming-out party so to speak came against Doane on December 17. In 26 minutes of play, he scored 12 points and made four three-point shots.

On the surface, this is good news for Nebraska, as it gives them another player with experience coming back. Kobe Webster announced he was coming back earlier this week, which was a huge piece of news for Nebraska basketball. Now with Lakes coming back, the latter has a chance to refine his shooting touch, and get back to being that three-point marksman he was renowned for being.
We know that Lakes certainly has a three-point touch. If he can find that has consistently, that will give Nebraska a player that can get it done from beyond the arc. Having a player that can do that consistently would certainly be ideal for Nebraska. Once he begins to play with consistent minutes, I believe that three-point shot will come with regularity.
With the amount of talent coming in next year for the Nebraska basketball program, having players with experience choosing to come back is great. It gives the coaching staff the flexibility to play with the lineups, and will make them more competitive.
It will be interesting to see how active Nebraska basketball will be when it comes to the transfer market. As for now, they have yet another player with experience in the fold. In what is sure to be a busy offseason, some key moves are already being made.
