This was a good move for all involved with Nebraska basketball.

It’s been a been busy day for Nebraska basketball and the day started with Yvan Ouedraogo entering the transfer portal.

When Nebraska basketball was able to get him to commit, I was excited about him coming here. All things considered, he was actually one of the more consistent players on the roster in terms of effort.

His statistics took a little bit of a dip this year, as he averaged 3.4 points per game. His best game of the season came on December 17 against Doane. In 18 minutes of play, he went three-of-five from the field and seven-of-10 from the free-throw line. All things told, he scored 13 points in that game.

This is truly no surprise to me, as Nebraska basketball had the emergence of a couple of big men this year. One of those names was Eduardo Andre. Especially in the second half of the season, Andre really began to show what he could do. As the season went on, he began to get a little bit more polished each game  out. Simply put, there was not a ton of space for Ouedraogo on the roster as the season went on.

I’ll be interested to see where he ends up because I think he is a good basketball player. He still is a little bit unpolished in some areas. However, there is no doubt he can be impactful when he is on the floor. He certainly improved his aggressiveness a bit this year, and that really showed in the way he was able to attack the paint.

With the talent coming in, I definitely understand why he would enter the transfer portal. I certainly wish him the best of luck and I think he will definitely be able to succeed somewhere else. He was definitely a bit of a project player when he came the Nebraska basketball program. We saw him develop his skills a little more, and now it’s about him taking that big step in his third year. This is something I think he can do.
