Nebraska football is trying to make headway in Texas.
Nebraska football has been busy recruiting for the 2022 class, and on Wednesday, they extended an offer to 2022 quarterback Richard Torres. Nebraska football becomes the first Power Five offer for Torres.
Perez is not ranked in the 247Sports Composite or regular rankings. With that in mind, he is building up a bit of interest. UTSA has also extended an offer his way. He is being recruited to Nebraska by quarterbacks coach Mario Verduzco.

Measuring in at six-foot-six, 210 pounds, he is the dual-threat quarterback that Nebraska is looking for. For starters, his height will undoubtedly be an asset, particularly when you consider the length of the line for Nebraska football.
When he is pressured, he is able to escape out of the pocket and make the tough throw. In addition, he also possesses a strong arm. This is something that Nebraska football quarterbacks have struggled with over the past couple of seasons. They have the athleticism, but they do not have the necessary arm strength to get the ball down the field.
In addition, his vision is also very good. When he is able to keep plays alive with his legs, he can make difficult cross-body throws. His ability to be able to extend plays and using his mobility to move the ball down the field are two things that Nebraska football needs desperately. His strong arm is also certainly an added bonus. Arm strength has been an issue for Nebraska football quarterbacks over the past couple of classes.
Nebraska football has been looking to get a quarterback for the 2022 class, and it’s no surprise that they keep trying to put many offers out there for the position. I’ll be interested to see exactly what type of quarterback they land. They obviously want a dual-threat quarterback, and now it’s going to be a question of who they can get out of the strong quarterback group.
Nebraska football is smart in offering Torres. He definitely has all of the things they are looking for. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Nebraska football coaching staff keep offering quarterbacks in the cycle. The quarterback position is one that the coaching staff has made a priority of throughout recruiting. They always seem to want to at least explore quarterback options in each cycle. That is certainly not a bad thing, particularly when you consider how quickly quarterbacks commit to programs.
