Nebraska football continues to look for tall wide receivers.

Nebraska continues to recruit for the future, and on Monday they extended an offer to 2022 athlete Jarel Williams.

Williams is the 70th overall wide receiver in the 2022 class, and the 19th overall player in his class from the state of Alabama per the 247Sports Composite rankings. Currently, he does not have any Crystal Ball predictions, but his offer list is impressive. In addition to Nebraska, Florida State, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, and Kansas State have all sent offers his way.

Most recently, he was offered by Southern Mississippi on February 13.

Last season for Saraland High School, he caught 26 passes for 392 yards and six touchdowns. Measuring in at six-foot-three, 175 pounds, he certainly has the height for  big-time football.

Watching his highlight film is impressive. He is not afraid to go up and catch passes, and he is not afraid to take on contact. At the high school level, he definitely had a size advantage over his corner matchups. Size will definitely work in his favor at the collegiate level, but it may not be as easy to exploit matchups

If he was to commit to Nebraska football, I could see him serving the role of an outside wide receiver. His size would allow him to be a frequent target of the quarterbacks, particularly in the red zone. Having a big receiver like this would help open up the Nebraska football offense even more.

Currently, Nebraska has no commitments in the 2022 class. I would expect that to change relatively soon however as Nebraska has been busy offering prospects in the class.

This is not a surprising offer given the size of Williams. He is a taller receiver, and that is what Nebraska football has been going after lately. I imagine that they will continue to go after tall wide receivers in future classes as well. This seems to be the way that recruiting is trending nowadays.

I would certainly be excited  if Nebraska football is able to land him. However, there are several other big-name schools that are in the mix for him as well. This would not be an easy get, but Nebraska has never been afraid to put themselves out there in recruiting. They have no problem trying to tangle with the big dogs for recruits that they want.

This would certainly be a case of that, and I’m going to be very intrigued to see how this recruitment plays out.
