Nebraska basketball landed  a commitment on Monday.

On Monday, Nebraska basketball was able to land a commitment for the 2022 class. Blaise Keita committed to Nebraska , adding another big man to the roster.

Measuring in at six-foot-10, 235 pounds, he plays for Coffeyville Community College at the moment. He has played in eight games in his Coffeyville career, averaging 12.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. He has also proven to be somewhat efficient at the three-throw line, shooting 75% at the charity stripe. This would certainly be welcome news for Nebraska basketball, as they have struggled there.

More from Husker Corner

Currently, he is shooting 55.6% from the field, and has also proven to be effective at grabbing offensive rebounds. He grabs about four of them per game.

Nebraska  beat out the likes of Minnesota, Arizona State, Baylor, and Tennessee for Keita’s recruitment.  Those are certainly big names in the sense that Nebraska has beat out another Big Ten foe in Minnesota. The Tennessee connection is also interesting, as Derrick Walker used to play there.

When I look at his highlights, I am very impressed with what I see. He has a nice little turnaround jumper that he uses once he gets close to the basket. In addition to that, he is able to back down in the post and is able to finish close to the rim. This is something that Nebraska has struggled with over the past couple of games and the entire season in general.

Nebraska has done a fairly decent job in developing big men. Yvan Ouedraogo is holding his own while Eduardo Andre is making an impact. I’m curious to see how Nebraska  develops Keita. He has a lot of skill, and his defensive ability is very evident. He is definitely a little bit raw, but the skill is there.

Next. Derrick Walker turning into team MVP. dark

Keita is the first commitment in the Nebraska basketball 2022 class. I am excited to see who else Nebraska  adds in this class, and this is definitely a good first piece to have. There is definitely a vision in the way Nebraska basketball is recruiting, Now, it’s up to the Nebraska basketball coaching staff to be able to put everything together.
