The 34 minutes against Wisconsin were the most he played in the last five games. He made an impact on the floor, and it was noticeable. It was a rough night for several Nebraska basketball players, but he was not one of them. He made some quick shots early, and tried to set the tone offensively
He has really been playing at a high level over the course of the last couple of games. He hit a slump around December that saw him go cold in terms of shooting. Since then, his numbers have increased steadily. He has recorded at least 10 points in four of the last five games, including two 15-point outings against Indiana and Minnesota.
Mayen needs to continue to play at this level, especially with several Nebraska basketball players struggling. He is not going to be a primary scorer. However, he can provide valuable scoring. This is going to be key moving forward, especially if certain Nebraska basketball players go through a slump during a particular game.
I’ll be interested to see how he builds on this stretch of good games. This is the type of production that I thought he would bring as soon as he got here. He certainly has the ability to do it and I will be interested to see how his game develops.
Mayen certainly has been showing promising signs as of late, and that is encouraging. Especially considering the rough patch he hit, he has bounced back in a big way.
