Nebraska football is beginning to focus their efforts on the 2022 class.

As Nebraska football continues to try to add to the 2020 recruiting class, they may the top five for a quarterback from Texas. 2022 three-star quarterback Jalon Peoples put the Huskers in his top five on Saturday evening.

Peoples is the 31st overall cornerback in his class, and the 42nd overall player in his class from the state of Texas per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

In addition to Nebraska, Tennessee, Baylor, Indiana, and Ole Miss also made his top five. Most recently, he received an offer from Ole Miss on September 3, 2020.

As I looked at his highlights, I envisioned what he could bring to Nebraska. Measuring in at 6 feet, 175 pounds, Peoples brings a variety of things to the table. He is a physical corner. He bumps receivers as soon as they get off the line, and has good pursuit, especially on deep balls. In terms of the running game, he is also very good at coming down and being able to make a play.

In terms of what I believe his strongest asset would be for Nebraska football, I think he would do best in the passing game. Nevertheless, that’s not to say that his run-stopping ability is poor. His versatility would allow Nebraska to have more flexibility defensively, and give him an opportunity to see the field.

Currently, the 2022 Nebraska football recruiting class is being built. They have no commitments, but have extended offers to several players in the class. I’ll be interested to see what Nebraska football does in this class and who they can land. Scott Frost has made it a point to land playmakers, especially defensively.

In any event, the 2022 class is getting closer and closer to making an impact. With National Signing Day occurring this upcoming Wednesday, the 2022 class will be the main focus moving forward.
