Nebraska football  got a big addition to the wide receiver room.

On Monday, the Nebraska football program was able to land Montana receiver Samouri Toure. The junior announced that he would be continuing his football career at Nebraska on Monday.

He had seven catches for 1,495 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2019.. Averaging 17.2 yards per reception, a 79-yard catch was his longest of the season. Toure is a player that has always managed to make big plays on each reception. In 2018, he averaged 11.9 yards per reception for Montana.

He was named a FCS All-American, and was the only Big Sky Conference player named to the receivers Senior Bowl watchlist

Toure entered the transfer portal in November, and will have one year of eligibility remaining.

I’ll get into what this commitment means for Nebraska football in a little bit. As it stands, this gives Nebraska another deep threat for Adrian Martinez to throw to. He is a very good route runner, and is able to get up and catch a high pass. He is as explosive as they come, and he also has good size. Toure measures in at 6-foot-3, 190 pounds.

For his career, he has 155 catches for 2488 yards and 20 touchdowns. He will certainly add experience and depth to the Nebraska football wide receiver room. This is a major get for them in that regard, as he gives them a playmaker that can get the ball and make things happen.

Do not let the fact that he came from a smaller school for you. Toure is extremely talented. Throughout the offseason, you heard me talk about how Nebraska football is lacking depth at the wide receiver position. Between the recruits that they have gotten, and transfers like this one, Nebraska now has weapons on offense. Lack of production at the position was a huge problem last season, and this latest addition should help that.

I’ll be interested to see what his role in the offense will be. I think he could have a chance to be the top receiver for Nebraska in their offense. He has that type of playmaking ability.
