This is great news for Nebraska football.
Another key piece of the Nebraska football defense is coming back to Lincoln. Monday, Cam Taylor-Britt announced that he would be returning for yet another year.
This is a huge development for the program. He was an integral part of the defense last year, and he really begin to shine brightly. He was a much better defender in coverage, and that allowed him to show off his athleticism and make some big plays.
On the year, he recorded 23 tackles and two interceptions in addition to four pass breakups. Those numbers were a little bit down from his 2019 season, as he recorded 29 tackles and a sack. Even still, he was a major part of the defense for Nebraska.
This is huge for the Nebraska football secondary. As is the case with the linebacker position, there are going to be a lot of newcomers in the fold. Having Britt in the fold is going to be huge in terms of having that stability. Stability is something that Nebraska football has not had on defense in quite a while.

Not only is stability returning with this announcement, you also have a player who has been the beneficiary of a couple years in this defensive system. I can’t wait to see how he continues to grow in the system, and how he performs. Right now, everything is working in his favor.
Also, you are adding a tremendous playmaker defensively .Nebraska is going to need as many playmakers on defense as possible. The 2021 schedule certainly does not work in their favor. Britt’s physicality and athleticism are going to be desperately needed. You can always count on him to make a big play or make a big hit. He has kind of made that his calling card. His aggressiveness is certainly welcome on this defense.
It will be interesting to see who else decides to return to the program. For all the departures, Nebraska football is certainly getting some talent back in the fold. This is already making me excited for the 2021 season, even though there is still definitely some work to do to prepare. Nebraska is returning the heart and soul of their defense. That will certainly be able to go a long way, particularly when you look at how the other Big Ten teams stack up.
Experience is key in the Big Ten, and now Nebraska has the luxury of having a lot of it, as well as younger players who will pave the way for the future.
