Recruited by Tony Tuioti, he also had offers on the table from Arizona, Arizona State, Hawaii, and Kansas State.
What could he bring to Nebraska program? When I watch his highlights, he is very good at stopping the run. He is able to fill his gap quickly and make a play on the running back. In terms of pass-coverage, he can also read the play and get over to the receiver quickly. His athleticism is also noticeable, and it is the quintessential quality for the modern linebacker.
This is the perfect get for the Nebraska defense. Too often in the 2020 season, we saw the Nebraska football linebackers struggle in coverage. As a result, anytime they played zone defense, the wide receivers would have an open field, and that would immediately expose the soft spots in the defense.
Ho’ohuli should be able to help fix that problem for the Nebraska football program. I really like what he brings to the table, and he is the perfect size for an inside linebacker. I’ll be interested to see exactly how he plays at the collegiate level. I think he is ready to go, and he could also be the type of player that sees the field almost immediately. This was a big get for Nebraska in the sense that he could play right away.
Nebraska needs athletic linebackers, and they got one here. This was a big way to start off the new year, and it also allows them the flexibility to be able to be a little more aggressive on defense. This versatility is undoubtedly going to help the program as they usher in a new era of recruits.
