Austin Allen toe taps against Iowa

This play came with some controversy. In was a difficult day for Nebraska against Iowa, tight end Austin Allen made probably one of the best catches of the season on a third-and long play.

Due to penalties, Nebraska was in a third-and-23 situation. In what looked like a lost drive, Nebraska made it work. On a day that Adrian Martinez struggled, he made an absolutely beautiful throw in a place where only Allen could get it. As soon as the ball was snapped, he rolled to his right and was able to bring it in for the catch. I loved this play because the ball truly was only in a place where Allen could’ve gotten it.

It gave the Nebraska offense some momentum and it kept the drive alive. In my opinion, Allen had a great season, and this catch was a microcosm of how well he truly played. It also gave new meaning to the phrase toe taps and proved that football truly is a game of inches.
