The Nebraska football tight end will take his talents to the big ranks.

A Nebraska football tight end is going to take his talents to the NFL. Monday, tight end Jack Stoll announced that he would be pursuing an NFL career, ending his time with the Nebraska football program.

In four seasons with Nebraska, Stoll recorded 61 catches for 657 yards and six touchdowns. His best season came in 2018, when as a sophomore, he recorded 21 catches for  245 yards and three touchdowns.

Although he did not get used a ton during his Nebraska football career, that wasn’t necessarily his fault. Nebraska has focused on using the outside wide receivers a bit more than the tight ends. As a result, his production dropped a bit.

We saw them use the tight end a lot more this year, and all things considered, his seven catches for 89 yards was pretty good. Although he did not put up big numbers, I always liked what he brought to the table. He always seemed ready to go, and he always seemed like he loved playing the game of football. That combination is something that is hard to find in college football these days.

With the National Football League putting an emphasis on the tight end position over the past couple of years, I could see him finding a home in the professional ranks. He is probably not going to be the next Travis Kelce, but he could be a serviceable option for many NFL teams. I could see him being used effectively in the red zone, as his 6-foot-4, 260-pound frame could translate well in the professional ranks.

I can also see him putting on muscle once he gets to the big show. As a result, he could become even more of a threat. He definitely has the tools to succeed as a tight end in the NFL.

I certainly wish him the best of luck. He gave it his all and he was a positive member of the Nebraska football program, and he did offer the quarterbacks a security blanket, when they used him. His ability to get downfield and run after the catch served him well and a wide-open Nebraska football offense. Now, I want to see if he can take it to the next level.

We will all be rooting for him and looking for him on Sundays, and it would be fun to see him make and NFL roster and make an impact.
