Nebraska football is okay on the line.

.With Nebraska football ‘s season wrapping up last week, we are beginning to see some players on the roster make decisions about where they want to play football. One of those players is offensive lineman Boe Wilson. He entered the transfer portal on Christmas Eve.

I have seen several fans comment on the fact that another Nebraska football player is entering the transfer portal. I certainly wish Wilson the best of luck, and I am certain he will be able to find playing time somewhere else.  With Wilson no longer in the picture , this just speaks to the fact that the Nebraska football program is positioning the younger members of the line for the future. I don’t think this is as big a deal as some are making it out to be.

In Wilson’s case, he started the first two games of the season, and appeared in four games in total. However, he saw most of his snaps taken by Ethan Piper this year. Now, the senior wants to find more playing time with that extra year of eligibility.

We have seen a lot of Nebraska football players enter the transfer portal over the past couple of days. In the case of Wilson, he is now unintentionally paving the way for some of the younger lineman to be able to get their shot. It is because of this depth that I don’t see this as a major loss for the program.

We saw a little bit of against Rutgers a couple of weeks ago. Turner Corcoran, Bryce Benhart, and Piper all started in that game. In the process, we got to see the future of the Nebraska football line. For what it’s worth, they did well in the running game, and managed to create lanes for the backs.

It sounds cliché, but it’s definitely true. The future for Nebraska football is now. As for Wilson, the game of football is placing a premium on offensive lineman these days. Much like one of Wilson’s positional peers, he was durable. He started 23 games for Nebraska. Given his experience, I could see him starting for a team as soon as he gets to his destination.

I wish him the best of luck, and I hope he will be able to find success elsewhere. In what has been a difficult year all-around hopefully he can find a situation that works for him, and one where he can get playing time.
