With Nebraska football taking home the victory over Rutgers by a score, Wan’Dale Robinson and Dedrick Mills were the thunder and lightning duo for the huskers on Friday. On top of that, Adrian Martinez provided a nice third act to the rushing attack.
The trio had profound impacts in the game. Robinson rushed for while Mills rushed for. It was great to see them play at a high level.

For Mills, he had no trouble rushing against the Rutgers defense on Friday night. He was able to find holes and then burst through them with ease. He ran downhill and with confidence, and it allowed him to do anything he wanted on the field. His performance on Friday night reminded me a little bit of what he did against Wisconsin last year. He had his best game of the season, and it could not have come at a better time.
For Robinson, he did it both on the ground and through the air. He showcased his dual-threat ability in a big way for Nebraska football, as he was able to use that explosiveness to take advantage of the Rutgers defense. It harkens back to performances of last year, and he not only helped keep Nebraska football in the game, but he made big plays throughout it.
On a night when the offense was inconsistent, the running game gave Nebraska football some very good production. It was great to see, as it gave quarterback Adrian Martinez something he could go to when needed. To his credit, Martinez played at a high level as well. He looked like the dual-threat quarterback that show promise his freshman year. He carried the ball
It was great to see Nebraska be able to find success in the running game. It stabilized the offense, and it worked with great success. In what was not an easy game by any means, Nebraska was able to hang their hat on that. One has to wonder if the Nebraska football running game performed this way throughout the entire season, what could have been?
In the meantime, the running game was a huge key to the Nebraska football victory on Friday. It was great to see the trio mentioned above have great games. It showed exactly what they could do in that department, and utilized their skill sets effectively. It was great to see, and it brought back the days of ground and pound football.
On a night that was anything but easy, the running game provided a huge lift.
