Nebraska Football: Brenden Jaimes was a model of consistency
A Nebraska football star is headed for the NFL.
Ahead of the Nebraska football game at Rutgers, there was a major roster move to be had. Left tackle Brenden Jaimes is declaring for the NFL Draft. He announced on Monday that he would not return to the Nebraska football program.
First, I am extremely happy for him. He is going to be a valued commodity in the NFL. As the league becomes more of a passing game, lineman are crucial. Jaimes was not only dependable, but extremely valuable. He started 40 straight games, and played 31 at the left tackle position. Furthermore, his longevity was commendable. He was one of only eight players left from Nebraska’s 2017 recruiting class.
He was a constant when he was out on the field. You always knew that you were going to get good production from him, as well as consistent play. As Nebraska football had to reshuffle with the line over the past couple of seasons, he was always there and always consistent. I always knew that he was going to put forth a strong effort and good game every time he took the field.
Now, he will look to showcase those talents in the National Football League. I could think of several teams who need good lineman, and he could be a day one starter in the league. I will miss him at Nebraska for sure, as he was always a hard-working player.
As far as replacements go, Nebraska football is in good hands. It is now time for Turner Corcoran to step up and show that he can be a crucial piece of the line moving forward. In addition to Corcoran, Brant Banks could be another player that steps up. It’s now time for some of the younger guys to get the opportunity to play. I’m looking forward to seeing how they do.
In the meantime, I wish Brenden the best as he moves forward in his football career. He certainly gave it his all when he played it with Nebraska, and I know that he will do great things in the National Football League. There will definitely be a void left by his departure, and that’s not a knock on any of his potential replacements. That more speaks to how valuable he was to the team and how integral he was to the offensive line.
Now, it’s time for Nebraska to groom the next stud offensive lineman. There are plenty waiting in the wings, now it’s time for them to show it.
