Nebraska Football picked up a walk-on Friday

On Friday, Nebraska football was able to add another player to its walk-on class. This time, a lineman from Iowa elected to join the program. Beau Schaller was given a walk-on offer from the Nebraska football program on Monday, and he made his decision rather quickly.

Schaller is the 12th member of Nebraska football’s 2021 one-on class, and should be able to help with the line. He measures in at six-foot-three, 265 pounds and played the most at left guard for Waukee High School.

When I take a look at his highlights, he plays much bigger than his size indicates. He is able to extend his hands rather quickly, and make his presence known on the line. His strength is extremely noticeable, and I was very impressed by how he was able to hold his own. He isn’t the biggest lineman, but that strength will get him far.

In addition to getting the upper hand on his man right away, he plays his man physically and is often able to move him to the side. This is important because it would be useful for the running game. I could see him at his best when blocking for the run.

Schaller’s commitment brings Nebraska’s walk-on class to 12. This class is no slouch either. There is some definite talent here. I’ll be interested to see how and if Nebraska is able to use these guys. Nebraska has always made a big thing of its walk-on program in its great to see. Now, I hope that the program will be able to use all of these guys moving forward.

Next. Three Gophers to watch out for Saturday. dark

I certainly could see a situation where Schaller gets used frequently. Nebraska football still needs help on the line, and I would go so far as to say that they have regressed this year. Hopefully, guys like Schaller can continue to help the program turn things around on the line. There definitely is talent there, but it needs to be able to all come together.
