Nebraska Basketball: Knicks sign former Husker Andrew White III
By Wade Noll
A former Nebraska basketball player is getting a shot with an NBA team.
Former Nebraska basketball journeyman, Andrew White III, who played just one season as a junior on the 2015-2016 Nebraska Men’s Basketball team, will get another shot to prove himself against the Association’s best.
According to a mid-afternoon tweet Tuesday by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, The New York Knickerbockers have signed White III to an Exhibit 10 deal.

This deal provides the White III his first chance at live NBA action since the 2017-2018 season.
His last pit stop was with the Atlanta Hawks, where he played in 15 games and averaged 4.6 points per game during that span. Following his cup of coffee with the Hawks, he has bounced around in the G League.
The good news is, the Virginia native is no stranger to the Knicks organization, as he has been playing with their G League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks, since 2019. His time spent with Westchester during the 2019-2020 season proved productive.
According to his G League Bio, White started 38 out of 41 games. He played a little over 30 minutes per game while averaging 11.5 points per contest. The right-handed shooter also finished the season shooting 39% from three-point range.
Hopefully, White can play well enough in the upcoming shortlist of NBA preseason games to carve himself out a reserve role in New York or elsewhere.
I could see a team taking a chance on him if he makes the most of the minutes he gets on the floor during the preseason. With no bubble on the horizon, at least for now in the NBA, a two-way contract could boat well for White. Teams will be looking for insurance in case key contributors come down with COVID or other nagging injuries.
The Knicks open their preseason with a matchup against the Detroit Pistons on Friday, December 11.
