Nebraska basketball needed Allen’s contributions on Tuesday.

You’ve probably read my Nebraska basketball breakdowns following the victory last night. One player that should not go unnoticed is Teddy Allen. I mentioned him a little bit in my Trey McGowens post, but I really did not give him his proper due.

On the night, Allen was absolutely electric, and he showcased a little bit of what he could do moving forward. He went seven-of-15 from the field and two-of-five from the three-point line. He also went seven-of-11 at the free-throw line. The bottom line is, he showcased all the aspects of his game, and how dangerous he is as a player.

He really began to heat up at the midway point of the game. Three early fouls could not deter his production.  I’ll admit, as soon as he picked up those three early fouls, I had my doubts as to the impact he was going to have on the game. Boy, was I wrong.

He scored the first seven points for Nebraska basketball, and 11 of the first 14 points for Nebraska. He’s had other great games this season no doubt. However, Tuesday night was one where he showed he could take over a game at any point.

This just speaks to the continued depth and versatility that this Nebraska basketball team has. Coming into the program, he was a highly-touted player. A former Gatorade Player of the Year, he came to Lincoln with a lot of pedigree. So far, he is showing up, and showing out.

He leads the team in points with 17.7 scored per contest. It is safe to say that he is living up to his billing, into the night was just another example of that. He played with confidence and he played with determination. You could tell he was feeling it. As soon as the ball left his hands, you knew it was going in.

He seemed determined to score, and his shot was certainly clicking on Tuesday. He was able to tally 16 of his 23 points in the final 20 minutes of the game. That is not only efficiency, those numbers are almost video game -like Hopefully, more games like this will be in his future.

Nebraska basketball has several players that can take over a game, and Allen is one of them. I love to see that he is having games like this right now. Hopefully, he can save some for January and down the road, when postseason tournaments begin.
