Two worthy players were among those to receive a Blackshirt this week.

This week , Nebraska football gave a  pair of Blackshirts to defensive players. Although we don’t know all of the players who received a Blackshirt, we know two of them. Ty Robinson and Damion Daniels were among those who received their Blackshirt on.

For his part, Robinson has played well in the three games he has played for Nebraska football. Recording four tackles against Penn State on Saturday as well as four against Northwestern and three in the opener against Ohio State.

More from Husker Corner

I remember when I wrote about him during the recruiting process. Nebraska football coaches really wanted him, and they were able to get their man. Now, it looks like their efforts have paid off. This is probably not the last time we have heard from Robinson.

For his part, Daniels has played well this season, he has recorded five total tackles, and also played a big role at Penn State. He recorded three assisted tackles and was a major force on defense for Nebraska.

I love the fact that these two in particular have received Blackshirts. For Robinson, it’s an affirmation that he can play at a high level, and do it well. I had high hopes for him coming into the season and quite frankly, he is proving me right.

For Daniels, it means he is taking a tremendous step in his Nebraska football career. I wasn’t sure how he would perform after his brother left the Nebraska football program. To have the task of  trying to fill his shoes was a tough task. Daniels has done it well, and I look forward to seeing him contribute more.

Next. Three Huskers to watch on Saturday. dark

As Nebraska football gets set to take on Illinois, these two players will undoubtedly play a big role in Saturday’s game. They are already making their mark for this program, and it’s really great to see. Especially as defense was a weak spot last year, it’s great to see them being able to help the defense out in so many ways. Watching them grow and play hard has been a ton of fun.
