The Nebraska football wide receiver has not been able to get healthy.

As Nebraska football looks to secure a win against Illinois next Saturday, one player that we thought we would be hearing a lot from has not been healthy. Wide receiver Omar remaining is still having health issues.

In his press conference on Monday, Nebraska football head coach Scott Frost indicated that Manning just is not been healthy enough see the field. This is  very disappointing, as he was a highly-touted recruit coming to Lincoln. Over the summer, I raved about his size and his playmaking ability. So far, we have not been able to see any of that in action.

With the emergence of Zavier Betts and Alante Brown, Nebraska football has more depth than in recent years. They can withstand not having the likes of Manning for a little bit. Nevertheless, this is a little bit disappointing because we have seen the film of what Manning can do. As for right now however, it appears the only goal is to make sure that he can suit up and be healthy.

Frost indicated that health has been an issue for Manning, and I hope he will be able to get healthy sooner rather than later. Especially with the bulk of the schedule coming up, Nebraska football will need to have all of their weapons available. Manning could certainly be put in the weapons category.

"“We can’t just seem to get Omar healthy,” Frost said. “We’ve got our fingers crossed, but he just hasn’t been healthy.”"

I truly think there is a health issue component to this, but I wonder if that’s the only thing. I certainly think there is more information available than what the head coach is telling us, but that’s his choice. Either way, it’s frustrating not to see Manning out there. I hope he can get whatever is wrong fixed so that we can see him on the field.

Next. Defense is turning the corner. dark

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Nevertheless, it is a tricky situation for all involved.
