Nebraska Football opens as the favorite.

As Nebraska football gets set to take on Illinois next weekend, the odds have been released for the game. With these odds, it is clear that Nebraska football is the favorite.

According to oddsmakers, Nebraska football is a 14 point favorite over the Fighting Illini.

The Illini have quarterback problems of their own, as starter Brandon Peters returns from Covid-19 protocols. Illinois was able to pick up their first win of the season last week, as quarterback Isaiah Williams showed that rushing was his specialty. He carried the football 31 times for 192 yards, and went seven-of-19 through the air.

This is a game that I could see Nebraska football winning easily. Saturday, I truly believe that they discovered a formula on offense that can help them sustain success. After landing Nebraska football their first win of the season last week, Luke McCaffrey should certainly be the starter for this game.

It will be interesting to see what happens between these two schools next week. We all remember the thriller that Nebraska football took part in against Illinois last season. In that game, Adrian Martinez was really able to showcase what he could do. It was fun to see him play at such a high level, and I thought that was his breakout game of the season.

Now, he has to battle with McCaffrey for the starting role. It’s amazing what can change in a year, but just like last year, some things remain consistent. Nebraska is the favorite heading into this game with Illinois. I’ll be intrigued to see if certain positional groups can build off their performances from Saturday. In what is a season unlike any other, growth is especially important.

It’s encouraging to see the lines tilt so heavily in favor of Nebraska. Nevertheless, this program still has a lot of work to do. Any team can beat anybody on any given Saturday, especially in a conference as crowded as the Big Ten. As we saw on Saturday, Nebraska has trouble finishing games as well. Those two factors make for a very interesting game next week.  Then again, a Nebraska football game is never boring.
