For their part, Penn State is struggling in their own right. They are 0-2 on the season, and most recently lost to Maryland by a 35-19 margin. In defeat, Sean Clifford went 27-of-57 on the afternoon, throwing for three touchdowns and two interceptions. Although this Penn State team has struggled, they undoubtedly have a bunch of weapons that Nebraska football will have to watch out for. In that respect, they are similar to Nebraska. Nebraska showed some life offensively once McCaffrey came into the game, against Northwestern but by then it was too late. It will be interesting to see if Nebraska football can bounce back in what is a crucial game for them.
Three straight losses to start the season could be detrimental to the Nebraska football program. They already lost the game they should have had against Northwestern. Now, they face an uphill battle as they look to right the ship. A struggling Penn State team may be the team to do it against. It’s not too often that Penn State has these types of struggles.
Nebraska football has had trouble capitalizing on opportunities. Hopefully, they can take advantage of this one.
