Nebraska Football: Myles Farmer drawing good reviews from coaches
The Nebraska football safety is drawing praise.
As the Nebraska football program is set to take on Western on Saturday, the coaching staff is beginning to talk about some of the younger players who could make an impact. One of those players is Myles Farmer.
I talked about the safety a little bit this offseason. I thought he could potentially play a role on the Nebraska football defense, and I still believe he can. All of the players who had to sit out a season to preserve their redshirt are getting a shot right now. Farmer is one of them.

Farmer is definitely built like a safety. At six-foot-three, 205 pounds, he uses his athleticism and size to be able to make plays. He was a player that I thought flew under the radar as part of the 2019 recruiting class. He was ranked among the top 50 safeties by Rivals.com, and he also was ranked among the top 60 safeties in the country by the 247Sports. Coming from the Atlanta area, Frost certainly landed a special player from down there.
So far, defensive coordinator Eric Chinander and secondaries coach Travis Fisher are very pleased with what he has seen from Farmer. Farmer recorded a tackle against Ohio State, and Chinander was pleased the progress he saw from the safety. This is certainly good news, as I thought he was one of the key defensive linchpins of the class.
"“I thought he did a great job when he got in the game,” Fisher said.Added Chinander, “He’s a very active safety. He can cover a lot of ground quickly because of his length and because of his speed and he’s also a very physical kid. He can be physical at the line of scrimmage, he can be a physical tackler. He’s physical on reroutes on the perimeter, but like I said, in the post, he can cover a lot of ground, so I feel pretty good about him in man coverage.”"
I personally am excited to see how he can grow, and I truly believe his indicated rapid growth works to the benefit of Nebraska Football. Especially when you look at the Nebraska football defense and how it is constructed, safeties need to be versatile. Farmer certainly has the ability to be versatile.
One thing is for certain, his time is coming soon. When his time will come is the big question mark at the moment.
