One analyst has a measurement for Nebraska football success.

Scott Frost has yet to experience success as the head coach of Nebraska football, and according to one college football analyst, he needs to have a few things happen before he can experience success at a high level.

Big Ten analyst Jerry DiNardo indicated that Frost needs to have success in order to indicate that Nebraska is back to playing at a high level. To be fair, it hasn’t exactly been easy for Frost over the past couple of seasons, as roster shuffling and getting acclimated to the program have certainly played a part.

In that regard, this season is pivotal. With Nebraska losing 52-17 to Ohio State, and getting their game against Wisconsin canceled, it has not been an easy road so far. Nevertheless, the game against Northwestern next week could prove to be a springboard for the rest of the season.

Although I agree that bowl game wins and conference championship appearances are crucial for success, it has to be realized that Frost has been slowly rebuilding the program to where they can compete for postseason play. Right now, the focus is a bowl game. Conference championships are not quite attainable yet, especially as Nebraska has a difficult schedule.

"“I’m just saying before Scott can take the program to greatness, and before he can challenge for the West, he needs a couple bowl games and then he can start talking championships and recruiting better, and get that thing out of the train wreck,” DiNardo said.“(Frost) needs something that says, ‘We’ve stopped the bleeding,'” DiNardo said. “They need to have some success. It doesn’t need to be big success right away.”"

Do I think Nebraska will be able to get to a high level under Frost? Yes, absolutely I do. Right now however the benchmark for success is extremely low. Pre-shuttling the season, this was set to be a big year for Nebraska football. Even still, it is definitely an important year for the program. However, there is no doubt that the schedule does not do Nebraska any favors.

Do I think what DiNardo is saying is wrong? No, I think is right in saying this. However, it’s going to be a gradual process, something that many do not realize. Nebraska’s time will come, but it’s going to be a little longer before it does. Hopefully, this season can provide an opportunity for Nebraska to make headway with this task.
