This is a tough break for Nebraska football.
It’s tough when I have to write about Nebraska football player injuries. It’s even tougher when they are players that I was looking forward to watching. That would be the case for Braxton Clark, as he is expected to miss the season with a shoulder injury.
The injury occurred in a pre-practice drill. You hate to see it, especially during practice. Now, Nebraska football will look to find depth elsewhere.

Clark had a solid season last year. He played in every game, and started against Purdue. He recorded 11 tackles and a fumble recovery in addition to an interception in 2019. As many of you know, the interception occurred against Northern Illinois.
Now, Nebraska may have a chance to see what they have with Quinton Newsom. This is where Nebraska football’s depth can come in handy. Sometimes, people think that depth is an overestimated thing. However, depth truly matters. Particularly in a positional group as big as the secondary, that could be the difference between winning and losing a football game.
I hate to see this happen the Clark. I thought he was due for a big year, especially after playing in so many games last year. That experience could have been useful to the Nebraska football program. Obviously, I hope that he gets better and he can participate soon. If there is any positive to this terrible development, it’s that can continue to watch and learn from the sidelines.
Hopefully, he will be engaged in practices and other events to stay connected. In that a season that is going to be an absolutely wild ride, Clark will certainly be needed by his teammates for moral support and others. There are ways he can still help the team without playing, and I suspect that he will be able to do all of that.
As for now, it’s about him getting healthy. Nebraska football has enough depth to where his injury should not be a back-breaker for the defense. Even still, this is a tough break for a player that was certainly on the rise. He could have been a major part of the secondary for 2020.
