The Nebraska Football linebacker is looking to have a big year.
As interviews with the Nebraska football program begin, it’s been interesting and refreshing to hear what the players and coaches have to say.
You can tell that both parties are energized by getting back to play, and especially for Nebraska, they have a lot to prove. There is no doubt that they want to come out and prove people wrong, especially after so many high expectations last year.

So far, it seems like players have an understanding of what they need to do. Defense especially needs to be better. There were times when it looked like they were in-sync last year, and there were other times when they looked lost. Fortunately, they looked lost more often than not. With a tough schedule heading into 2020, they cannot afford to be lost much at all.
One of the things that needs to improve is the pass rush. Too often, it seemed like they were unable to generate pressure.
One of the players who was able to generate pressure at a high rate was linebacker JoJo Domann. It seemed like he was flying all over the field on every single play. He had the hustle that the rest of the Nebraska football defense was often missing.
Now a senior, he is going to need to not only bring that hustle once again. Not only that, he needs to also encourage the other players on the unit to do the same.
In particular, Domann likes what coach Mike Dawson brings to the table. As noted in a report from Brian Christopherson of 247Sports, it seems like Domann’s play style fits in with what Dawson is trying to instill in his players. With the way that Dawson coaches, and how he preaches his players to play aggressively, this could be a match made in heaven.
"“He pushes each and every one of us to our limits,” the senior defender said. “He knows when it’s a mental error and a football error – the differences. And he holds us accountable.”“We’re ready to strike and win at the point of attack. Our front seven, we have to win the box.”"
It will be interesting to see exactly how Domann plays in Dawson’s system. One thing is for certain, no matter the coach or the system, Domann will be ready.
