The Ohio State game should provide chance for Nebraska football.

Okay Nebraska football fans. You’ve had a day to dissect the 2020 schedule. It’s not an easy one, and there are many games that favor Nebraska. Nevertheless, if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best.

For starters, the week one matchup against Ohio State should prove to be an interesting one. Nebraska football and Ohio State have formed an alliance of sorts, as Ryan Day and Nebraska football head coach Scott Frost have been fighting to play football since it was first announced that there would be no football in the fall. Now, this game may mean a little something extra to both teams.

More from Husker Corner

Ohio State is a lot different than the team we saw last year. For starters, they have lost their defensive coordinator in Jeff Haftley, and players like Chase Young, JK Dobbins, and Jeff Okudah. Nevertheless, they still have Justin Fields, and Master Teague to contend with, in addition to Oklahoma transfer Trey Sermon.

This will definitely be a tough contest for Nebraska football. With it being the first game of the season, there are going to be some kinks that are going to need to be worked out. You can bet that Ohio State is going to be ready to go, especially since the first game is at home.

Aside from Fields, Ohio State also has a weapon in wide receiver Chris Olave Jr. He recorded 849 yards and 12 touchdowns on 49 receptions. His best game last season came at Rutgers on November 16. In that contest, he recorded four catches for 139 yards, with a 58-yard reception being his longest of the afternoon. He will undoubtedly present a problem for Nebraska.

Ohio State is still very solid on both sides of the football, and Nebraska should not take this game lightly. With it being the opener, I truly don’t think they well. However, it’s worth a reminder.

I’ll be interested to see how this all plays out. Nebraska football has weapons of their own, probably more so than in year’s past. This game will certainly be a tough go of things, but I’m not so sure it will be as difficult as last year. Ohio State will still probably win this game in all honesty, but I truly believe that Nebraska will be able to put up a fight this year.

Next. Three takeaways from 2020 schedule. dark

In any event, football will be back. Ohio State will be able to provide Nebraska with a good measuring stick to begin the season. Nebraska wanted to play football, and now they have the opportunity. It’s up to them make the most of it, starting with a strong showing in the opener.
