Could a Nebraska football season be coming soon?

I honestly love stories like these, I really do. According to multiple media reports, Nebraska president Ted Carter may have possibly teased a Big Ten season start. The Nebraska president reportedly said on a hot mike that an announcement will come on Tuesday afternoon in regards to the season.

In speaking with Bob Hinson, the director of the National Strategic Research Institute, Carter made the admission. Of course, he denied that there was going to be a vote Tuesday night, but that’s expected. You would intentionally league that huge informational nugget. However, I definitely think there is something to what he said, and I’ll be interested to see if they do have a vote on Tuesday.

The fact of the matter is, Nebraska football has been one of the most vocal programs about wanting to play. It has made Nebraska some friends as well as enemies. For a school that has struggled over the years on the field, it’s interesting to see how polarizing they have become off of it. If anything, they are receiving more national attention now than ever before. That’s both good and bad, but in this case, it’s a good thing.

In the meantime, Carter apparently feels confident that a vote is going to happen Tuesday night. It’s certainly an interesting time for a vote, as we are already in second week of the college football season. Nevertheless, I would be happy with even modified football rather than no football at all. Hopefully, we’ll get a decision on a season soon and have football.

In reading his quote, Carter seems both very confident and excited that football may be coming.

"“We’re getting ready to announce the Huskers and Big Ten football tonight”, said Carter in a conversation with Bob Hinson, director of the National Strategic Research Institute."

I will certainly be breaking the news here if there is a vote on Tuesday. At the very least, it will give me something to write about for the next couple of months. With the way that several other conferences have been playing football for the past couple of weeks, I truly think it can be done for Nebraska football.

At the end of the day, I would just be happy to have football back. I am excited to see what this edition of Nebraska can do, and I truly believe that they have enough talent to make some noise in the Big Ten. They probably won’t win a championship anytime soon, but I feel as though this is the year that they can really show the conference what they’re made of.
