Nebraska football is scouting for the 2022 class.

Recruiting never ends, and Nebraska football is certainly doing their best to try to stock up for future classes. On Sunday, there was a report from Rivals.com that indicated Nebraska football is interested in 2022 linebacker Gavin Meyers.

Currently, Meyers is a three-star recruit, and his the 20th overall inside linebacker in his class. He is also the second overall player in his class from the state of Kansas per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Currently, he has no Crystal Ball predictions. In addition to Nebraska, Colorado, and Kansas State have also extended offers his way. He was officially offered by Nebraska on January 30.

What could he bring to the table for Nebraska football?  measuring in at six-foot-two, 205 pounds, he is the perfect size for middle linebacker. Playing for Hays High School in Hays Kansas, he was a first-team All-Conference selection. He recorded 121 tackles and two sacks in addition to 13 tackles for a loss, three forced fumbles, and an interception. He was all over the field, and his play style lent itself to some big numbers.

Currently, Nebraska football has no commitments in their 2022 class. However, this does not mean they have not been active. They have been beginning to really research 2022 prospects heavily. It’s hard to believe that we are already recruiting the 2022 class, but such goes the recruiting cycle.

After starting off slow, Nebraska is putting together a nice 2021 class, and I would expect that they would put together a solid 2022 class as well. It seems like the coaching staff has gotten into a groove in terms of recruiting, especially on the  offensive side of the football. Now, they should look to continue that momentum as Nebraska looks to make noise in the Big Ten.

It’s still a little too early to make any predictions in regards to who Nebraska will land in the 2022 class. However, it’s great to see that the Huskers are starting to do their homework. What I do know is that there are a ton of talented kids coming up his future classes, especially from the state of Nebraska. Here’s to hoping that Scott Frost and his coaching staff can land Meyers among others.
