Moos indicates October start not likely.

It seems like ever since the Big 10 football season was canceled, there have been rumors swirling around each and every day about whether or not the programs will get the play. Tuesday, another wrinkle was added into the debate.

Earlier in the day, the Dan Patrick Show tweeted that a source of theirs told them that if the Big Ten can pass updated safety measures and procedures, the conference will target a starting date of October 10. However, that is just one side to this story.

A little while ago, Parker Gabriel of the Lincoln Journal Star tweeted that Bill Moos said that there was nothing to the rumor of things starting October 10.

I tend to believe Moos here. He is on the subcommittee, and he is one of the people making plans for when football can resume. Right now, everybody wants football back so badly. I don’t blame them. However, that means that many are going to take sources and rumors at face value.

Other writers have also tweeted out what they’ve heard over the course of the day. Chris Dunker of the Journal Star tweeted that Chancellor Ronnie Green indicated things are still being worked on.

"“We are continuing to work on it. I would not be surprised if we do have some return to competition yet this year, but we are trying to sort how to do that right, how to do that safely, how to make sure all the protocols are in place, “ Green says."

As far as I’m concerned, you can undoubtedly throw cold water on the Dan Patrick Report. I fully believe in what Moos says . I don’t think he’s trying to hide anything. Granted, he is not one to tip his hand. However, given how badly fans want football back, and how important it is to get clarity on the situation, I don’t think he would say anything to intentionally mislead Nebraska fans.

I certainly cannot wait for football to return and I am tired of all of these rumors. It’s great that people like Moos are here to set things straight. He undoubtedly needs to be a voice of reason in this situation, and I would definitely trust what he says as this process continues to play out. There is going to be a lot of rumors flying around over these next couple of weeks as people continue to try to figure out logistics.
